Surviving Turbulent Times: A Reset for Mid-Level Leaders in International Education

A 90-minute virtual workshop with Executive Coach Jen Wilson

Friday, June 27, 2025 | 12PM ET / 9AM PT

In this moment of profound change across international education, mid-level leaders are being asked to do more with less—navigating program closures, shifting mandates, and rising uncertainty with limited support.

This 90-minute workshop is designed for professionals still holding the line. Whether you're sustaining operations with a reduced team, wrapping up long-standing programs, or simply trying to stay grounded, this space is for you.

Led by Jen Wilson—an executive coach and former international education leader with 18 years of experience spanning visa sponsorship, student and scholar advising, and emergency management—this interactive session offers a structured reset for those managing through the unknown.

What You’ll Walk Away With

Through real talk and grounded coaching, you’ll leave with:

  • Clarity & Compassion: Learn how to lead with honesty and heart, acknowledging what’s been lost without getting stuck.

  • Tools for Trust: Gain practical strategies to rebuild trust, restore psychological safety, and reconnect with your team.

  • Confident Communication: Discover how to align your team around shared purpose and speak with clarity—even when the future feels uncertain.

This isn’t just inspiration—it’s a practical, peer-informed space to regroup and reset.

Tuesday Tea: The Future of US - China Exchanges

Please join Open World Solutions' Tuesday Tea Series. In these monthly fora, we explore topics of
strategic interest to the field of global learning in an informal and off-the-record setting of senior
professionals. The conversation is only loosely facilitated, with participants free to share bold ideas,
challenge assumptions and broaden networks in a virtual salon environment.

Our topic for Tuesday, April 25, 2023; 3:00 -4:00 pm EDT
The Future of US - China Exchanges

For many years, China dominated the International Education landscape in the US. The large number of Chinese students (many of whom were self financed) drove international student recruitment strategies for many universities and colleges. At the same time, education abroad for US students also increased dramatically over the past decade.  For several reasons, the number of Chinese students has decreased over the past few years and there are no signs that it will ever bounce back to pre-pandemic levels.  Education abroad has seen similar decreases and there are no indications if it will bounce back in the coming years.

What is the future of US-China exchange? What should higher education institutions focus upon as they develop their strategies with this complex and important area? What are some new models for exchange?
